Iaido is the practice of wielding a katana in a controlled, efficient way. The main actions include drawing the katana, using it for defense, then re-sheathing it. When iaido was invented in the 15th century in Japan, the idea was to slay an opponent with one slash of the sword and to use the sword effectively to adapt to any situation.
